Skeptica - a poem asking for vision for everyone

Skeptica
By Paul Howlett

Sceptics’ vision is often so short
They fear to look at questions of thought
Their minds follow to the status quo
Along comes someone, paradigm or ghost
That challenges the norm.....
Tis just a phantom of your mind
Doesn’t exists, but proved time after time
They hum and haw, and say it’s just wind
Blowing in the window, tis not ghoul
Or Spirit or something out of this world
Scientific method that proves them wrong
Still does not convince them that they are blind
Sceptics go through life being years behind
New ideas, inventions, finding the unknown
They are comfortable asleep in bed at home
Sceptics once said...look
The earth is flat
Anyone can see that
Just look at the ground
Tis totally flat not round
Men of no vision did not look from on high
They looked at the Earth and not the sky
As the centre of God’s creation
All must revolve around us
Along came Galileo
Threw that one under the bus
But Copernicus 80 years before
Had written that it was thus
But the sceptics said what a load of rubbish
And not only that, we’ll make you a heretic
For such wicked and heinous ways
But Copernicus was smart
He publish his book after he did depart
This life of earth and gained fame
Put all the sceptics down the drain!
