Brown Cow
By Paul Howlett
Brown cow standing beside the road
Looking very regal, looking for grass
On top to the ridge standing on high
Making her kin folk feel kinda last
She was up there feeding and looking about
Making sure that no one took her out
Like it or not, she was on top
All of the others
The rest of the herd, were in the ditch
Feeding down low, thinking she’s a bitch
For finding the high ground
Finding the best
Finding the grass
That has tastes better
Than all of the the rest.
Note: I wrote this poem after seeing a cow standing on high ground, with the rest of the cows about were down low in a ditch, as I drove from Rosewood to Ipswich, Queensland last year.
