Waiting... A poem by Paul Howlett

Waiting...

A poem By Paul Howlett

Waiting for my wife

Waiting for the life

Waiting for the might

To carry on

To carry my load

To find a new road

To find a new way

To find a bright day

To dispel the gloom

As I had a feeling o doom

 The weight of the flood

Lingers on in the mind

Numbing the will

The will to go on

The will to succeed

To organise one’s life

To take all the strife

Of relocation of home

 Of rebuilding the house

Of reconstructing the lot

Of life, love and purpose

I find that is hard

But finally a light

Dealt in the death of a friend

Kick started me again

Get up off your bum

Take a look at the sum

Totality of it all

Back on the horse

Full gallop - of course

I am off again

Stuff all the pain

Take each day at a time

Like, love and be kind

To lover and friend

And I say again and again

Life is too short

To be inert and forlorn

Smile at the world

And take a new day

Wake up and pray

That life just goes on

And be on that way

To be happy and say

Love is the way!
