The Night By Paul Howlett
Late at night
Feeling the darkness
Feeling the pain
Bed
sheets soaked in sweat
What is wrong
what is right
Was it food
I thought in fright
I worked hard today
Maybe a ripped tendon
Muscle of course
No said the guts
And proceed to roar
The agony total
No help from a pill
Emergency phone call
Ambulance please
What a relief
To be given morphine.
I was taken to hospital for the first time (in my life) by an ambulance. Time was about 4 am, and I was so glad to get to Emergency, and spent about 5 or so days in hospital with drips running 24 hours a day throughout my body. I am ok now, but will require some keyhole surgery later this year.
