The Phone Call

The Phone Call by Paul Howlett

This story was told to me by Shane who runs a recording studio.  He had a band out to record some songs last week. Shane is living in Wisconsin and the snow, at this moment in time is deep on the ground.

The band had practiced and recorded some songs, when some of the band members wanted to get some dinner.  This particular rock band loves Chinese take-a-way food, so that is what they wanted and proceeded to find a shop to place an order.

Siri is the voice software on the phone, so the lead singer of the band asked Siri the phone lady to connect him to the nearest Chinese Restaurant and take-a-way shop in New London.

A large order of Chinese food was made and directions to find the recording studio were given.  Time passed and no delivery was made.
The drummer of the band went outside, in the snow and waited by the side of the road for the delivery guy to arrive. Half an hour later still no food.
Phone calls were made to the Chinese shop and delivery guy. Directions were given, but the street names that the delivery called out to try and get the right address did not make sense.

Shane grabbed the phone and had a good look at where the Chinese shop was located and found much to his surprise found that the band had ordered food from a shop located in New London, Connecticut some thousand miles from New London, Wisconsin!  Siri had totally misled the band, as they had not specified which state in the USA they wanted!

The leader of the band phoned the Chinese Food Shop in Connecticut and profusely apologized for the stuff up!

Finally the band ate some Chinese food at the local shop in New London, Wisconsin and they were very impressed with the quality of the food.

Shane had a smile that night, thinking about how modern technology can really lead you astray!
